History

SN7.2 is a test tank designed to support the development of Starship. The tank is made of 304L stainless steel, and is thinner than previous test tanks being 3mm thick.

The test tank has been tested twice, first on 26 January 2021 after which Musk announced it had passed its tests.

The second test occurred on 4 February, during which the test tank was observed to start leaking. After that test it remained at the launch site and was present when SN9 and SN10 were tested.
On 15 March SN7.2 was removed from the testing area and transported to the production facility and was placed in front of Tent 1.

By 22 May preparations had been made to move it to the scrap yard.
